چکیده

The study consisted of 18 dogs divided into Three groups. Each group consisted of Six dogs with elbow, hip and stifle joint disorders respectively. All the dogs were subjected to synovial fluid evaluation. The physico-chemical parameters recorded in these dogs included synovial fluid volume, color, viscosity, transparency, protein concentration, total nucleated cell count and differential cell count respectively. In the present study the mean synovial fluid volume increased compared to the normal average values. The color of synovial fluid was variable and varied from red tinged to yellow. The Viscosity and transparency of the synovial fluid decreased compared to normal average values. The mean values of protein concentration and total nucleated count of synovial fluid were higher compared to normal average values. The mean mononuclear cell count was lower than normal values whereas the mean synovial fluid differential cell count (Polymorphs) was relatively higher as compared to normal values. The variations in the values of different parameters of synovial fluid within the groups were statistically nonsignificant (P≤0.05)

Arthroscopic Evaluation of Elbow, Hip and Stifle Joint Disorders in Dogs

Survey radiographs reveal mainly the bonychanges and most joint disorders do not affect bone primarily. Arthroscopy is a valuable diagnostic tool for detecting intra-articular joint derangements which are difficult to be assessed by routine clinical and radiographic methods. The present study was taken up to evaluate the arthroscopic findings in elbow, hip and stifle joint disorders. The study ...

Autologous Bone Marrow-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells Modulate Molecular Markers of Inflammation in Dogs with Cruciate Ligament Rupture

Mid-substance rupture of the canine cranial cruciate ligament rupture (CR) and associated stifle osteoarthritis (OA) is an important veterinary health problem. CR causes stifle joint instability and contralateral CR often develops. The dog is an important model for human anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture, where rupture of graft repair or the contralateral ACL is also common. This suggest...

Effect of Therapeutic Pulsed Ultrasound in Dogs with Experimental Stifle Joint Osteoarthritis

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of therapeutic ultrasound upon some functional parameters in dogs with stifle joint osteoarthritis. Experimental osteoarthritis was induced in 6 mixedbreed dogs by injections of sodium monoiodoacetate in the left knee joint. The right joint served as control. The clinical and goniometric status of dogs was monitored at post injections days...

The effect of robenacoxib on the concentration of C-reactive protein in synovial fluid from dogs with osteoarthritis

BACKGROUND Robenacoxib is a novel and highly selective inhibitor of COX-2 in dogs and cats and because of its acidic nature is regarded as being tissue-selective. Thirty four dogs with stifle osteoarthritis secondary to failure of the cranial cruciate ligament were recruited into this study. Lameness, radiographic features, synovial cytology and C-reactive protein concentrations in serum and sy...
